A Rare Collaboration Between Swedish and International Students
A collaboration between School of Photography and the C:Art:Media International Masters program at Valand School of Fine Art will take place at Röda Sten from May 8-30. In the exhibition Clouds of Witness, the two schools present their respective students in a joint graduate exhibition. It is the first collaboration of its kind, and a unique opportunity to experience the variety resulting from the combination of Swedish with a nearly global sampling of international work.
C:Art:Media is an international two-year master’s program at Valand aimed toward students committed to a contemporary art practice using digital media for its realization. The program currently consists of fifteen nations from multiple continents. The primarily Swedish Bachelor Program in Photography at the School of Photography consists of three- years of full-time study, culminating in individual artistic project. Work at the School of Photography is based on personal, free creativity. Great importance is placed on critical reflection and discourse, drawing on different photographic means of expression from within the contemporary visual field.
The exhibition title Clouds of Witness combines of the sacred and the profane and underlines the broad context of the works included and also the location itself. Röda Sten’s cavernous space “offers a tangible sensation of time and space – – and in the midst of the exhibited works we, artists and viewers alike, collectively become witnesses to the thoughts and depictions that surround us”.

ut sina avgångsstudenter från två olika program i en gemensam
examensutställning. Det är kandidatprogrammet på Högskolan för
Fotografi som tillsammans med det internationella masterprogrammet
C:Art:Media på Konsthögskolan Valand gör sin utställningen på Röda
Sten.Genom att kombinera två olika program från de två skolorna
korsbefruktas idéer och uttryck på ett oväntat och spännande vis. De
29 medverkande studenterna skapar en dynamisk mångfald i Röda Stens
alla rum. Med skilda utgångspunkter och media visar de ett tvärsnitt
av vår samtid och undersöker ämnen såsom identitet, rummets
begränsningar och våra egna övertygelser och fantasier.

Skapande verkstad Lördagar kl 12–17 Drop in Skapa skulpturer, mobiler och tittskåp med utgångspunkt i fotografier och bilder. För familjer med barn från 4 år. Materialkostnad: 20 kr/barn.
